Getting final touches on character punched in.

I think the easiest means to insert my guy into the story if we're going with the previously described plot hook is for Leo to have orders to act as the priest's principle escort (And possibly enforcer if the mission ends up requiring such). Reasons for him to stay in Clear Creek after the mission is over can be established during the course of play. Does that work for you oh Maker?

Just as a suggestion, you could call the new thread something along the lines of "Intercharacter exchanges", or perhaps something less wordy, and have it dedicated to sidelines not directly involved in the main story. That way it can be there for any other subplots that might come along in addition to the one between Corren and Zinna.

Because we now have a character with the ability to cure disease I should advise everyone on how I prefer to handle that issue. I do not consider all diseases to be equal, something like the black death should not be as easy to cure as the sniffles or a mild flu. Therefore I tend to assign levels to diseases which correspond to how easy or difficult they are to heal using magic or other treatments. I rate diseases starting with level 0 which represent minor, non-life threatening disease like the common cold and then I take each disease on a case by case basis.

Part of the reason I do this is because it just doesn't make sense to have something like the Black Death cured by a simple laying on of hands or even a lesser restoration spell.

I agree; this would be an appropriate means to introduce your character.

I also like the "Intercharacter exchanges" idea for a title of the thread to allow other players to play out any interpersonal relationships among each other that are not directly related to the Main Thread. I will try to set that up shortly.

Makes sense to me. So just how effective a tool is Lay on Hands on your scale? Hopefully it lies somewhere in between curing the sniffles and halting plagues.

This may also be a good time to ask more concerning the church. Unusual aspects of the faith, customs, sayings, rituals, etc. Stuff that would be ingrained in Leo's behavior to at least some degree.

Also, any standing orders not already described?

So master Dungeon Master, just what is Leo's impression of Father Marcellus? I assumed a few things I considered safe, but I don't want to get too far afield of your interpretation of the man and claiming full ignorance seems unlikely under the circumstances.

Aericsteele’s D&D 5e Questions & Support

The Maker says...

Since we do have a player "On deck" as it were who is interested in the RP it is important that I know whether all players intend on continuing the game. So far I have received verification from everyone except Alessand. Will Roland continue his adventures with the other Defenders? If not please let me know as soon as possible so that I can work the waiting player into the group.

To answer Daishain's question: I guess first Leo would know that Father Marcellus is not the only missionary being sent to the Wilds or other frontier regions (Just to clarify that). Leo had not met Marcellus until he was tasked with escorting him but he did get to some things about the priest during their travels. He is very devout but would likely strike Leo as fairly charismatic and gregarious if not slightly naive given his young age being only in his late twenties or so.

Through conversation during travel Leo would probably have spoken with Father Marcellus about his views toward non-humans and he would have found that they are pretty consistent with the Church at large. Elves are seen as fellow creatures of the Maker, as are halflings, Dwarves, and Gnomes. Beause the Maker granted his creatures free will, such creatures are subject to being tainted and corrupted by the Destroyer but they may be redeemed. Meanwhile creatures like goblins, orcs, kobolds, etc. Are viewed as children of the Destroyer and when dealing with creatures of the Destroyer attempts at conversion are seen as futile, they need to be eradicated as the taint of the Destroyer is in their blood and soul making redemption very difficult if not impossible.

Leo probably knows very little about the Elves of the Scolandi Wilds (Truthfully no one in the party is very knowledgable), his exposure to Elves would have probably been limited to the Elves of the former Kingdom of E'ranlean which was conquered by Asendar about fifty years ago. Those Elves were scattered throughout the Empire and made "Civilized" by placing them in small and scattered alienages where most serve as servants to nobles or general laborers on farms and in craftworks while the society attempts to reeducate and integrate them to fit in better with "Civilized" human society.

Unfortunately, Father Marcellus is in the same predicament in that all he knows about Elves would have been spending time evangelizing in the alienages and he may be expecting a similar reception from the Scolandi Elves.

So, thoughts on moving the conversation forward? We've established that everyone's POed about the task at hand to some greater or lesser degree, and that the Father is most likely… less than ideal as an envoy. My guy's laid out the stakes as he knows them and has made his plea. In the absence of ideas or more queries, he doesn't have much more to add I can think of at the moment.

If none of the defenders are inclined to add even incidental support until they cool off, we could wrap it up with a "We'll figure something out on the way", and move on to something else.

Agreed, I'm thinking that unless anyone has anything that they need to accomplish in Clear Creek, I will move the game forward and set up the next encounter/obstacle in the Wilds rather than going through the minutiae of preparing for the journey. Hopefully will be able to post something tomorrow.
