So, Taz is going down next round if we don't get the vamp off his neck? Not quite a vampire thrall, as I doubt she'll keep sucking on him once he's unconscious, but still damn annoying.
I need to work on a variant Dimension Door spell/Teleport that actually opens a Gate to funnel sunlight into areas *smile*.
In order to turn Tazskan into a vampire spawn, the one holding him would need to keep draining after he falls unconscious, until his max hitpoints equal zero, then he'd need to be buried. That's not likely too happen, but yes, he's in danger of a more conventional death. Oh, also, I'm afraid that lay on hands takes a standard action. You can do that, or you can use the lightning breath, not both.
In regards to the discussion of vampiric party members, I'm of the opinion that there are always exceptions, however rare they might be, to a creature's defined alignment.
The problem with having such is twofold. While I'm not about to actually restrict alignments and basic concepts, a vampire companion would cause major complications for the rest of the party, even in the unlikely case that every PC is on board with it. The other problem is balance considerations Refluffing a warlock is a good start, but if the character doesn't get something decent as recompense for the whole can't cross rivers or walk in sunlight or survive without blood thing, then they'd actually be at a disadvantage.
Ignazio, just roll a 2d6+0, and note down in the "Dice roll purpose" section to add a +3. I can handle the math from there :P.

There is one solution I felt worked pretty well, having becoming a full vampire take a process of five feats. Which I found under vampires on the site Obsidian Portal for a Way of the Wicked Campaign. Admittedly, this was also for a Pathfinder game, and there would be consideration of how such might be converted to better fit the structure of Dungeons & Dragons 5e, especially in how a single feat is worth a lot more.
Personally, if it means allowing me to become a vampire, I'd be willing to give up five feats to do so, at least in a Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 or Pathfinder Campaign. Things would need some adapting for Dungeons & Dragons 5e, otherwise the "Feats" would be too weak, and would need some changes.

It would… um.. 'interesting' to see how two Paladins would react to someone actively become a vampire. Not to mention a most natural abhorrence by almost every other class in the group. While the process itself might be intellectually interesting to Lawrance the knowledge slut, he wouldn't likely hang out with or endure the presence of such a creature.
KingOwlbear, you're right. Sorry for the confusion on my part. Croft is casting a spell that can really help, if the vampire fails and does not have anymore Legendary Resistances. As Gknight says, she has to run out of them sometime. With the Hold Person being cast, the Hypnotic Pattern will drop so I hope someone manages to take the sitting duck before that happens. Otherwise it is another cultist for Poljen to hold back. I am doing my best to stem the tide in the east. I am hoping Cratol and Velon drop a couple in the west so they can head for the vampire. I fear Poljen will have to remain in the hall a couple of rounds more unless some of these cultists are dropped by others.
I think everyone has posted so we just need to wait for Daishain to find the time to crunch the numbers and post… I can hardly wait! This to me is easily the tensest, most nail-biting fight I can recall for this game. Even more so than dealing with the blue dragon at Greenest, the first fight with Rezmir where she got away, the giants… with so much at stake, and the way it feels like each round the battle could tip decisively either way, I have found myself constantly checking for updates. Heck, while at work I even keep the map up to watch for Daishain (Jason I believe is his name!) making changes to it!
Oh, and since everyone insists on discussing it. Poljen would not travel with a vampire. Unless there was a way to change the person back and wanted that, no way. And as a player, I'd probably drop the game.

I can't wait for the big reveal that Velon is undead. Daishain and I have been working on it for months *wink*
Yeah, I'm probably the other onlooker. I always have several tabs open for this game. Velon's character sheet, my email, TOD map, etc. The situation has been tense enough since fighting Rezmir that I'm always eagerly awaiting the big Dungeon Master updates. Good stuff!
PS Sorry to say, to the cause Paul discussed, looks like Velon missed again. Hard to hit when rolling above a 4 is rare. I'll help out eventually, right now just by being a high AC bag of HP, it seems.

Paul, I don't think a vampire would fit into this game. I would like to play one in a campaign from the beginning one day. I get distracted easily by vampires. If we were playing an evil group I could see it. We are supposed to be heroic. Too many characters would have a problem with it. Lia wouldn't tolerate it either.
This battle is in the bag for us. Once we concentrate on the vamp it's over. I'm really not nervous about it. The giant fight was much more stressful to me. I really thought that was possibly suicide.
