Charles Manson

Crimes committed in such gruesome ways cannot fail to amaze the average person, but with the family of Charles Manson it seemed routine to plot savage murders. In reviewing the court case and history of Charles you can see that his beginnings contributed significantly to his later choices. Indeed we have to wonder, who was worse - Charles or his mother.

Warning - not for the faint of heart

Now what disgusts me personally is the hype given to what he did. He has set up web sites, get donations and even people petition for his release. Currently he serving a life sentence in California. He is almost 70 years old.

Manson Charles

Hollywood has made a new mini-series about it -- what are they thinking?

I'm not sure when it is airing on TV but the ads just make me sick. They are just prolonging the cult following.

Charles Manson History & Civil Business Politics

Charles Manson had a horrible upbringing (which of course DO NOT justify in any way what he did) but I am mentioning because he is not the root of the problem. Can you imagine being 9 years old and your own mother tells you in your face that she doesn't love you and does not want to do anything with you?.

That still does not excuse what all he has done in his 60+ years on this earth! I, personally, know a woman who is now in her early 40's. When her mother brought her home from the hospital as a 3 day old, she chucked her to her older brother (12) and said here, do with it what you want.

He sexually and physically abused that tiny baby and so did her *boyfriends*. That girl ended up having lots of problems. She developed over 30 different personalities, and not one of them was aggressively violent. If harm was threatened to her *the host*, then one or two of the personalities would take over and protect them all.

That was far worse than the childhood Manson had. I read the entire article and I have also read the book Helter Skelter.

In my opinion, Charles Manson should have been put to death. That article is not gory at all ~ read the book Helter Skelter, it is horrific! So is Manson!

On March 21, 1967, Charlie was released from prison and given transportation to San Francisco. He was 32 years old and more than half of his life had been spent in institutions. He protested his freedom. "Oh, no, I can't go outside there"¦I knew that I couldn't adjust to that world, not after all my life had been spent locked up and where my mind was free. I was content to stay in the penitentiary, just to take my walks around the yard in the sunshine and to play my guitar"¦" The prison officials ignored his protest and unleashed him on the world again. https://www.crimelibrary.com/manson/mansonmain.htm

If you read well what I wrote, I said that his childood in no way can justify the things he did. I was just trying to analyzed what would make a person do such horrible things.

Charles Manson

Recently, I was watching a documentary about the Psychology of murderers and there were some interesting facts brought up about Manson:

1. Manson showed that you could make people who would otherwise reject a concept conform to exact obedience

2. None of the murders that were committed for Manson were supervised by him. The girls were so brainwashed that they felt compelled to obey.

It is true that Manson did not supervise the Tate and LaBianca murders, but he did shoot and was convinced he killed a drug dealer named Bernard Crowe 2 months before the Tate and LaBianca murders.

There is also significant suspicions that there were several deaths at the Spahn and Barker ranches that went unnoticed.

QUOTE
FRESNO, Calif. -- As investigators consider digging for bodies at a remote ranch where Charles Manson and his acolytes once hid out, new information has emerged to bolster reports of possible clandestine grave sites in the barren California desert, authorities say.

An ad hoc team of detectives and forensic investigators visited Barker Ranch last month to test the soil for evidence of decomposed bodies. Follow-up laboratory testing revealed that at least two sites could be unmarked graves, and the group is urging local investigators to begin excavating.

Former Inyo County detective John Little said Wednesday he was sent into the desert in 1974 by his former boss to investigate possible human remains buried at Barker Ranch.

"He said I should go up and take a look around the Barker Ranch and try to find four grave sites somewhere around 150 yards from the building," said Little, who set off toward Death Valley first in a pickup, then on horseback. "At that time, there wasn't a lot of really good forensic techniques to find things. Imagine what you could find with the sonar stuff they have now."

Even though Manson and many of his followers had been convicted and sent to prison by 1971, Little spent part of the 1970s trying to tie together loose ends from the case. At one point, he came across a cache of canned food the cult members had stockpiled in the Panamint Mountains.

Little doesn't recall what led his boss, then-Inyo County Under Sheriff Jack Gardiner, to send him in search of the graves. But Paul Dostie, a police detective from Mammoth Lakes who was on the team that visited the ranch in February, suspects Gardiner was tipped off to their presence by Dianne Lake, a former member of the Manson family.

Prosecutors say Lake's parents encouraged her to join Manson and his followers when she was just 14. She lived with them at an old Hollywood movie set north of Los Angeles. It was there that Manson began preaching of an apocalyptic race war he said was predicted in The Beatles' song "Helter Skelter."

Members believed they were a select group that would eventually come to rule the United States if they carried out gruesome killings that Manson ordered. After authorities raided Spahn Ranch, the Manson family set up alternate headquarters in the Panamint Mountains, near Death Valley, at a dilapidated house on Barker Ranch.

The clan was ultimately prosecuted for nine murders that took place in the summer of 1969.

Lake was later arrested in a raid, and Gardiner and his wife took her in to "deprogram" her, said Steve Kay, the former Los Angeles County deputy district attorney who prosecuted Manson.

"How would Gardiner know with such specificity the sites of these graves if it weren't for Dianne Lake telling him?" Dostie said. "It just fits too well."

Gardiner has since died. Little has trouble remembering the exact dates of his visit to the ranch, but is confident in many of the details. A man who answered the phone at a listing for a Dianne Lake in Ojai said his wife was not a former Manson family member.

In the meantime, law enforcement officials are poring over the forensic evidence gathered at the ranch by investigators from Tennessee's Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Inyo County Under Sheriff John Eropkin said a decision on whether to dig is expected next week.

Police in nearby Bishop have also reopened a different case believed to be linked to the Manson family.

Fillippo Tennerelli was found dead in a motel room there on Oct. 1, 1969. At the time, the death was ruled a suicide, but at the behest of Dostie and a relative of one of Manson's victims, police are now reviewing the case to find out whether he really killed himself.

Debra Tate, whose sister Sharon Tate was killed by Manson's clan, said she was told there was a drug link between Tennerelli and the Manson family.

"At this point, we're looking at whatever shreds of evidence we can gather," Bishop police Chief Kathleen Sheehan said. "There's no statute of limitations on murder."

This article was only from 2 weeks ago. If there really are graves on the ranch sites, then it is pretty likely that Charlie was at least present if not a participant. He didnt seem to have a problem with shooting someone. At the time of these murders, drug use was probably at a all time high, at least the mind altering drugs of LSD. The "Summer of Love" was not a whole lot more than a drug induced orgy.
