Pathfinder RPG vs Ruler of Kings II

This is a comparison between the Pathfinder Role-playing Game and Ruler of Kings II Text Based Role-playing Game for the purpose of helping new players to Ruler of Kings II to understand the concept of play.

I believe Pathfinder is a Role-playing Game that originally started as a spin off of Dungeons & Dragons 3.5. Pathfinder is owned by Paizo and they are very open about their content and facilitating their fans. Pathfinder is very similar to Dungeons & Dragons with some variances and a focus on various skills of the Character. Similarly, to what I wrote in Ruler of Kings II vs Dungeons & Dragons, ROK II is not Pathfinder nor is it a spin off or Pathfinder Scenario. We used to run Pathfinder games here but it is no longer the case.

Now, the differences between ROK II and Pathfinder. Ruler of Kings II is a Medieval Fantasy Text Role-playing Game which requires the Player to read and write while being in an online tabletop theme setting. However, the Player does not have to look for a Dungeon Master or other players because ROK II is open 24/7. That is not to say that ROK II doesn't have a Dungeon Master or other Players as it does. The main thing is that you do not need a Dungeon Master or other Players in order to have a game. That is the main weakness about games like Pathfinder, if the Dungeon Master is not reliable or consistent then the game falls flat.

Using an example I like to use I will quote it here;

international QUOTE ("JB")
To illustrate how this can be a real downer… imagine 6 people playing a board game like let's say Monopoly. Usually, if one player has to leave, even if they are the banker, the game goes on with the remaining 5 players. Now, let's say another player leaves later on then the remaining 4 can still continue on and on until there are only 2 players left. However, in [Pathfinder] it is not like that… if that one special individual, the Dungeon Master, has to leave then the rest of Players have to stop the game because none of them can take over being the Dungeon Master.

In Ruler of Kings II, the focus is on YOU and YOUR Character and not other Player or the Dungeon Master. ROK II allows you to control the speed, direction and detail of the game because it is the story of your Character. Some may ask if ROK II has Character Races, Classes, Skills, Magick and so forth. The answer to all is "Yes". ROK II is very much like playing a tabletop Role-playing Game without the need for others to have a game.
