Wolf's Bait - Page 6

The Game Master says...

Thomas asks the bandits about the location of their friends to which they both respond that they do not know.

As you travel you notice that the space between you and the mountain bases on either side is becoming more narrow. Right now it is at 50 feet across and you feel as though you are being watched. You do notice the leading bandit becoming quite nervous so you become more aware of your surroundings.

You then hear the whizzing sound of an arrow as it flies through the air and sticks itself into the neck of the bandit - he drops to the ground with a heavy thud and a choking sound.

You look up and on both sides of the mountain are archers who are poised like snipers. They are using the cliffs as cover and you notice there is no way up to where they are located.

To make matters worst up ahead you hear the sound of horses' hooves coming towards you. You are in a case of 'must survive' as you have no horses to run, but yet you wonder if there is something more that you can do to overcome this situation.

GM: Say what you wish to do now. Regardless, everyone should send me their dice rolls for combat.

The Game Master says...

You merely walk forward while being attacked overhead by arrows. This allows the Bandits shooting from the mountain cliffs above you to be unrestricted.

GM: Bandits have a +5 modifier attack. Based on rolls this is what happens.

First shots against Daphne miss completely.

Wanderer is also missed as she braces her back against the mountain surface to avoid the arrows.

Thomas avoids arrows.

Kalfie avoids arrows.

GM: You guys gave me some lousy rolls!

Pudit holding the bandit makes him standout even more and despite your best efforts he takes an arrow and falls to the ground... Dead.

GM: Character Pundit no longer in the game.

Crusher has very little armor and takes in one arrow that knocks him to the ground, but he raises up still alive.

The Game Master says...

Next Round Begins

You run to one side so as to be below the archers (let's say to your left since you did not indicate) on one side thus disabling them from being able to shoot at you, however the archers on the other side are now seeing you like target practice. You do your best to fire back at the same time.

Wander shoots an arrow squarely into the shoulder of one of the archers not killing him but stopping him from being able to use his bow.

Thomas when firing has to put down his storm shield which makes him easier to hit but unless the archer Bandits have excellent aim they are hard pressed to find an entry to his flesh and thus he remains unscathed. Thomas fires two arrows one fits into the chess of one Bandit and the other's head.

Daphne easily dodges the Bandit's arrow but it is not the same for one of the Bandits as he yells when an arrow pierces his lower chest and he falls from his place behind the rock to the hard rocky surface below.

Kalfie is untouched by the Bandit's arrows and he returns with successful hits killing his enemy.

With so many falling or dying they hide behind the boulders they are using for cover, their miss fortune keeping them at bay.

By this time the approaching bandit army is almost upon you, but instead of immediately attacking they go a little way off and form a semi-circle around you.

One trots his horse forward a bit and in a strange accent says,

"Drop thy weapons or die in Death's Mouth".

There are roughly 12 of them there.

At the hearing of this your captive Bandit use his own body to push away the slumped body of Pundit and he tries to make his way to his Bandit comrades.

The Game Master says...

You relay to Wanderer to take a shot at the Bandit's spokesman. She instantly raises her bow with two arrows notched and fires. One lands in the Bandit's head and one at his heart. The Bandit falls backwards off of his horse without even a sound, only a thud can be heard from the fall.

Right after that arrows rain from above trying to hit you but they cannot because of the angle between them and you.

The Bandits on horseback immediately charge you from their horses with an advantage of their height and your back to the mountain leaves you no escape. It is a fight to the death.

GM: Round begins. I am reusing your rolls from initial battle to save time.

The Bandit that attacks Wanderer meets with death but she still have two others facing her.

Kalfie is also attacked by two. Kalfie divides his two attacks between each of the Bandits.

GM: No modifier given.

Kalfie hits both Bandits before they could do anything. One dies instantly and the other is injured.

Thomas faces three Bandits. He kills one and fatally wounds the other with his two attacks. The remaining hit back but his skill and armor leave him a formidable target.

Daphne faces two Bandits and with her awesome sword it slices them in half from their horses.

Crusher fights with two Bandits who are having difficulty hitting him, but Crusher does not as he wounds both but they still fight on.

You notice the Bandits back up allowing them more space and it will be necessary for you to move up to continue to attack. You can see them pulling out the bows from around them as they notch arrows quickly.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

Kalfie gives a loud rumbling war cry and him, and Thomas attack the Bandits on the horses while Crusher and Daphne attempt to attack the archers aiming at the first three. Wanderer instead bends on one knee, she fires her arrows and a Bandit falls from his horse

GM: Battle continues with Archer Bandits having a +5 against the first three. Using the last two numbers of dice rolls received.

Archers on the ridge of the mountain fire at Thomas' back but they miss. Two Bandits on mount fire on Thomas as he approaches but they miss too. Thomas lashes out at a Bandit and kills him easily while he finishes off one already badly injured.

The same happens to Kalfie. Firing at Kalfie's back is useless as the Bandits are pitiful in their aim. Bandits mounted fire and are even worst. Kalfie retaliates but his war cry is not done justice as he misses completely.

Crusher aims at the Bandits above some of which are looking at the melee in the middle. He fires two arrows and none hit however he is caught by a good shot and he falls lifeless to the ground.

GM: Crusher is dead.

Daphne tries to take out the Bandits on the ridge and from what she can tell she injures one as he withdraws with his bow. A Bandit fires back at her but misses terribly.

GM: Say what you wish to do now. I will need the remaining three to submit new rolls if you wish to continue to fight. Please put in your correct body for modifiers before pressing send button.

Wolf's Bait

The Game Master says...

GM: Sorry for the delay. Going off of your new rolls the battle continues.

Wanderer takes out another bandit using her bow and excellent skill.

Kalfie fights a mounted Bandit. The reaction of the Bandit is faster and he attacks first but misses Kalfie. Kalfie uses his weapons in two quick motions that literally rips the Bandit in half. Just as the Bandit falls an arrow comes slicing through the air only to be deflected by your armor.

Thomas reacts the same time as the Bandit he attacks but Thomas' sword uses death at its' edge and the Bandit misses.

Daphne goes through the the round with no successful hit, but neither do the Bandits against her.

There are two Bandits on horse who now take leave to the South. And you can do nothing about it being on foot. A whistle is made and the remaining horses follow.

This allows bandits on the cliff to now have Thomas and Kalfie in the middle alone for one attack with an advantage (+5). All the arrows miss.

GM: Say what you will do now.

The Game Master says...

All the archers withdraw themselves and suddenly there is calm once again. Already you see anxious carrion above circling over the new found feast of dead human flesh that you have slain.

You keep watch for any that might be persistent about taking a sniper shot at you but it is unusually quiet.

You continue South deeper into Death's Mouth. Ahead and to the upper right of the jagged mountain face you see what looks like a cave opening.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

You find yourselves pondering too much what you should do and this gives some archers tracking your position to get in some (+5) shots at you as you deliberate.

GM: Rolls the D20 Member Wars Dice twice for each character

Daphne takes an arrow which does serious damage (8hp left). The other arrow misses.

Kalfie also takes an arrow which leaves him fallen to the ground unconscious (he is on 0hp). The other arrow misses.

Thomas is fortunate to have no arrows hit him.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.
