O.K. Now, I am really sore! I probably shouldn't say anything, but I dropped my bike today at a stop light and fell. I was on my way home from work. It was a completely bonehead move on my part and I feel so stupid. Well, actually, I am too sore to feel stupid, but I was stupid.
I was at a light on hill. I realized I still had the choke on. Instead of putting it in neutral and then taking my hand off the clutch to push the choke in (it is on the side of the bike that the clutch is on), I was being lazy. So I took my hand off of the front brake, didn't have my foot on the rear brake, reached across the bike, leaned over to push in the choke. Since I was on a hill, the bike started to roll back. In the process it also started to lean to the right. Well once the bike started to fall over, I couldn't stop it. I am not strong enough. So, I just made sure to get my feet (and the rest of me too)out of the way so the bike wouldn't land on top of me. This caused me to ride the bike to the ground so to speak. So, I landed hard. The good news is there is absolutely no damage to the bike at all!
As for me, no permanent damage. I am sure I am bruised though. My body, at my age, wasn't meant to fall 2 1/2 - 3 feet to the ground on black top. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it really is when it is a free fall. The good news is I was wearing my leather jacket because it was a bit cool this morning on the way to work. Also, I had jeans on because we had a special jeans casual day at work. So, no scrapes. Just bruises.
After I fell, I couldn't pick the bike up either. The
cars at the light behind me when I fell, just all drove around me. How rude! A guy on the other side pulled over and asked if I needed
help. Forget pride, I was grateful he stopped. He picked the bike up like it was nothing. I drove home and am now moaning because I am so sore!
Now, I really am fine and wasn't in any danger at any point, so no lectures. I fell while sitting still! How stupid is that!!!
