Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 Play By Post Party Leader - Page 3

Rather off topic, but...
This is already quite a bit of an undertaking, and time-consuming - I wonder if there is some other way we could do combat, at least of this "generic" variety, that would speed things up? I was toying with the idea of everyone just rolling a few different dice like 5 times, so you could resolve maybe more than one attack or action or defense in a row. What do you think, or do you have any other ideas, or just continue as normal?

Namdar holds his scimitar tight to prevent it from making noise as he creeps around in the shadows of the surrounding trees, slowly making his way behind the orc, picking the best approach, which combines most cover, least obstacles and shortest and quickest path to the enemy's back.

PURSUIT GROUP:
Skedvick = engage orc, covering Jenrek's and Namdar's retreats/D20 (14, 6)
Jenrek = retreat? (GM take control of Jenrek?)
Namdar = sneak behind orc and use Class Skill Backstab
Not sure what rolls are needed from me so I'll just make some:
D12: 6, 11 / D20: 12, 8 / D%: 94, 03
I'd still like to subdue/restrain the orc if possible to get info

MELEE GROUP:
Lionel, Krusten, Pundit = talking, watching, meditate on surroundings
Oliron = attack orc: D20 (18) *possibly subdual, but Beast is going for kill
Beast = attack orc: 2 1D20 rolls: 7, 22 (both including +4)[/quote]

If you all want to move faster I can take a few dice rolls at a time and complete a fight scenario quicker. Just let me know what the party wants to do.

The orc engaged with Oliron, Lionel, Krusten, Pundit and Beast slumps to the ground lifeless.

This group searches the Orc, then sees if they can find the others of the group.

Skedvick continues his attack on the orc.

Jenrek and Namdar are both able to slip away as the orc and Skedvick battle on, neither one getting an opening to hit the other.

Namdar switches from scimitar to sap, to sneak up behind the orc and use a non-lethal surprise attack.

Jenrek continues his retreat out of the battle.

Namdar: attack orc - Class Skill Sneak Attack (using non-lethal sap)
Attack Roll: 1D20 (12) + Melee Attack Bonus (+2) = 14 to-hit roll
Damage: 1D6 (3) + Backstab's +1D6 (5) + Str Dmg Bonus +2 = 10 damage

Namdar's extra rolls if needed:
1D20 (8 + MAB +2 = 10) (3/5) (8/10) (14/16) (10/12)
1D6 damage (2+DB 2=4) (1+2=3) (6+2=8) (3+2=5) (6+2=8)

Skedvick: attack orc
1D20 (16) + with Melee Attack Bonus (+3) = 19 to-hit
damage 1d4 (3) +Strength Damage Bonus (+3) = 6 damage

Skedvick's extra rolls if needed:
1D20 to-hit (5) (6) (7) (5) (5)
1D4 damage (14) (4) (17) (14) (12)

OOC: Me and Skedvick will try the multiple attacks and rolls resolved in one post, if you're up to it, to see if it is feasible to speed it up a little. If not, no big deal.

We can try the multi attack post next fight maybe. Looks like all survived the first encounter.

Assuming the groups have met up by now (that is the plan anyway), Namdar and Oliron need to quickly hide/bury the bodies out of the way of being easily detected before the group leaves the area. Also, Skedvick and Jenrek both have Knowledge: Nature, and Namdar has Survival - would we be able to easily put our heads together and find some sort of herb or vegetation or tree bark or something around here that we could use to keep the smell down, on the orc heads - aromatic flowers or antiseptic wood or herbs, etc?

Party members are picking up swords, bows and arrows to arm themselves.

Namdar puts the two orc heads in his back slingbag and will water them down a bit if they start to get very rank.

Namdar checks the area for forgotten gear and down the path back to the farm.

"Since everyone seems to be amiable, let us get our friend Jenrek back to the farm and take a rest and go from there."

Our group wants to clean up as best as we can, and get back to the farm, using the road to expedite our travel time.

The parties cleric has been rounded out. He does have healing powers.

Pundit's healing roll was an 8, so if healing as a D8 + Level then he got a 9, which I think should be enough to heal Jenrek completely, as I don't think he even has that many HP.

Namdar hands his bow and arrows to Lionel, and about 30 mins pass, allowing the wizard to practice a bit.

Finally, Namdar nods and points toward the forest. "Now it is settled, the bow and arrows are yours, and we go now, and find the orcs' tracks. Follow myself and the rangers - good to see you restored, good Jenrek - about 50 feet behind, troops."

The whole party moves out, the rangers and Namdar in front.

Namdar continues leading the group further into orc territory, following the tracks...

-Namdar, Skedvick and Jenrek at the point, Beast next, heading the other group

-being cautious and quiet, again mostly off the road and looking for activity

-looking for a good defensible and appropriate place to camp, in time for night

-looking for suitable wild grass and grains to feed Oliron's donkey Jonas
