In response to Krusten's interrogation, Bastion speaks of being something of a wandering mercenary. No personal affiliations or even a home to speak of.
Some time ago, he is not sure how long as there is no perception of time while he is disabled, he had been hired in the same town you came from to escort a merchant's wagon along the trail. When the ambush came, he fought hard, felling several beings, but the numbers were simply too great, and he was fighting alone.
He had awoken a few times before, as the mage attempted to use him as another pawn, alternatively with words and attempts to bind his mind with magic. He resisted each time, which apparently led the man to string Bastion up as a trophy in his bedchamber.
Bastion mentions this is the first time he can recall having wanted another being dead for personal reasons rather than practical ones. Though he is only mildly disappointed at not being able to finish the mage himself.
Out of Character: Unless there was another around here that I missed somehow, the 'golem' you saw referenced was Bastion. (Not technically a golem, but the difference between the twain is tough to tell from a glance) Kind of already been reactivated.
Krusten listens and observes the man. "Wandering mercenary you say… well in your wandering do not get in my way or the way of my arrows or you could die."
This was Krusten's typical inhospitable greeting letting new folks know that she was not to be taken lightly.
Out of Character: Got mixed up there.
Bastion shrugs, "Such is always a risk. Regardless, the closest thing I have to a contract at this particular time is the debt I owe to Avan. Unless you intend to aim your bow at him, there is no reason for conflict between us."
"Ha… even Avan knows his bounds with me, he is useful, that is why he is not dead yet, you may want to keep it that way for yourself." Krusten walks off to patrol the cave.
Out of Character: I assume at this point Ildrahil is healed to his full HP.
In Character: In response to Krusten Ildrahil says he is lately left from home. He is out to seek his destiny and perhaps a bit of his family's history that his father and uncle were always so circumspect about. He does not provide any information about them.
Albrecht talks to Ildrahil about his skills to asses where his services can best be rendered for the group. Unsure how his sneakiness may benefit the group during marching, Albrecht suggests that he take up a position towards the back of the group so as not to be hurt until he can learn the way the group works together. He doesn't mean the suggestion to be unkind, but sees Ildrahil as a young and impulsive person barely into his manhood that might act unpredictably in combat and throw off the group cohesion.
Out of Character: I am responding to abnninja's post in the Leader thread, as it seems more like a group conversation thing than a character action kind of thing.
Ildrahil responds to Albrecht forthrightly. He holds very little back. He seems to trust the Druid. Perhaps it is because of his time in the forests spent with his father. He takes no umbrage at the Druid's suggestions.
Out of Character: Sorry about posting things that belong here on the other thread. I think I'm getting a handle on this now. I'm used to a three thread format where one is where all In Character actions go, one is where questions go, and one is exclusively the Dungeon Master. Just knock me up the side of the head when I mess up. .
Out of Character: No worries. It took me a while to get the hang of it too (I just joined this game a little less than a year ago). Basically I use this rule: If the Dungeon Master needs to react to it, it goes in the other thread (Or if the Dungeon Master needs to react to part of it), otherwise it goes in this thread. You can put conversations and stuff in the other thread, if they bear information the Dungeon Master might need or if we have already discussed something and you are providing motivation for why your character is acting the way he does, etc. You'll get the hand of it more and more as we play.
