The New York Islanders have fired coach Scott Gordon and replaced him on an interim basis with minor league coach Jack Capuano. The team announced the dismissal Monday, Nov. 15, 2010 with the Islanders in the midst of a 10-game losing streak. The Islanders are 4-10-3, tied with Edmonton for the fewest points in the NHL.

Scott Gordon watched as the losses mounted for the depleted New York Islanders. There was only so much he could do with a roster decimated by injuries and not nearly deep enough in talent, even in a perfect situation. His time finally ran out. Once the Islanders dropped 10 games in a row in the final year of his contract, it was hardly a surprise that Gordon was fired Monday in his third year as...
