They should learn from Wesley Snipes, he got jail time because he did not pay his taxes. The IRS doesn't care if you're a celeb or not you got to pay up.

A Tax Day Story For Hard-Cider Lovers

When is hard apple cider not considered hard apple cider? When it's taxed like wine or champagne. America is in the midst of a cider revival, but antiquated tax laws make it a risky business for entrepreneurs, critics say. Not to worry: Sen. Schumer is on the case.

"If in fact IRS personnel engaged in the kind of practices that have been reported on and were intentionally targeting conservative groups, then that's outrageous and there's no place for it -- and they have to be held fully accountable," President Barack Obama told reporters today.

Obama said he learned of allegations that the IRS targeted conservative groups through news reports Friday.

The president also answered questions about his administration's handling of the attack on the U.S. Compound in Benghazi, Libya, in September that left four Americans dead, including the U.S. Ambassador.

The issue of talking points on the Benghazi attack "has been a side show," Obama said. The administration said that immediately after the attack it was unclear who had carried it out, he said. In the last few days, the issue of talking points has been "Spun up," Obama argued. "There's no there there." Ref. CNN

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has ordered an investigation into Internal Revenue Service political targeting of some conservative groups, he announced today. The IRS has admitted that members of its Cincinnati office engaged in such activity. But documents suggest at least three other IRS offices did the same.

In a separate case, Holder also said he was not involved in the decision to collect phone records of Associated Press journalists in a probe into leaked classified information, saying he stepped aside to avoid a potential conflict of interest. He called the leak one of the most serious he has ever seen. "It put the American people at risk, and that's not hyperbole." Ref. CNN

I think it was a lot more than just three offices I bet this administration had the IRS look into a lot of people and groups as a way to see how well or under funded they are. Just one more piece in the puzzle of this administration slowly trying to get its paws in everything.

In a report obtained by USA TODAY, the IRS Inspector General concludes that because of "Ineffective management," the agency created "Inappropriate criteria that identified for review Tea Party and other organizations applying for tax-exempt status based upon their names or policy positions instead of indications of potential political campaign intervention." These criteria led to hundreds of organizations having their applications for tax-exempt status delayed for many months. Ref. USAToday

Heads are going to roll for this one. Party politics cannot become part of what should be an unbiased government agency.

Acting Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Steven Miller has said his agency has pinpointed two "Rogue" Employees in the agency's Cincinnati office as being principally responsible for "Overly aggressive" Handling of tea party requests for tax-exempt status over the past two years, a congressional source told CNN today.

According to a report by the IRS inspector general released yesterday, the agency developed and followed a faulty policy to determine whether the applicants were engaged in political activities, which would disqualify the groups from receiving tax-exempt status.

The controversial practice began in early 2010 and continued for more than 18 months, the report said, declaring that "The IRS used inappropriate criteria that identified for review Tea Party and other organizations applying for tax-exempt status based upon their names or policy positions instead of indications of potential political campaign intervention."
