All of Finland's airports are to be closed at least until 6 pm Tuesday due to a new cloud of volcanic ash from Iceland, Finnish aviation authority Finavia said in a statement Monday night.
However, the airspace closure does not apply to flying under the altitude of 900 metres according to visual flight rules, which mainly includes recreational aviation, Finavia added.
A gap in the ash cloud that has plagued European air traffic since Thursday last week opened up over Finland on Monday, allowing planes to land and take off at three airports in the southern part of the country.
