Achinelli / Acosta of Argentina - Page 2

I just did a big cosmetic update to Achinelli Genealogia and took out a lot of unnecessary content. Now you can see very clearly which section is English / Spanish, etc.

That's a nice site I wish I could get something together like this but it looks like a time consuming task and I'm lazy right now. Are those pictures of lds_forever in the cute costume?

Clara, yes that's me with a traditional Argentina costume dancing when I was a little girl. That day I was very sick with a high fever but I wanted to dance anyways so I went to school that day.

That's so cool. You don't look sick but the photo is a bit blurred so I can't tell. Have you been doing genealogy for a long time? I want to get started but I don't know where to start and have a lazy streak going.

No, I haven't been doing it for a long time. I was always interested in genealogy since I was little but had little help/support to do it but thank God I married someone very involved on this. I created a book with all my genealogy and info.

If you are serious about it, you should try to collect as much information as possible and go back as far as you can and record it all.

Achinelli / Acosta of Argentina

I found a very interesting information about the first Achinelli that possibly came to South America. Since it is in Spanish I will try to translate some of it:

Attached Image QUOTE
In 1846 a French Basque brutally killed famous stockbroker Achinelli. This gentleman (Achinelli) was the brother in law of Mr. Baya who was also a famous stockbrocker at that time. The French Basque asked Achinelli to take to his room 1700 golden pesos and that there he will give him the money. While Achinelli was counting the money, the french hit him terribly on his head and then proceed to stab him several times.

Mr. Achinelli's full name was Esteban Achinelli, he married Antonia Bayá and in 1834 their son Felipe was born who was the father of Estevan Felipe Achinelly. This man was the first Achinelli to touch American soil.

The killer had to rush to clean his bloody clothes and hide the body. He robbed Achinelli of everything, even his gold watch with Achinelli's inituals and he ran away. His idea was to hide for a while until everything calms down (since everybody knew Achinelli). However, the neighbors found the body and called the authorities. Rosas (Buenos Aires governor) ordered the police to found the perpetrator and make him pay for what he did.

During three days and three hings of tension, looking everywhere in the city of Buenos Aires, they finally captured the murderer.

They knew he was the one because the police found him trying to sell Achinelli's watch. Don Juan Manuel de Rosas sent the murderer to death and he was hanged a month and a half in the public plaza opposite the Cabildo so that could serve as an example.

Juan Manuel de Rosas in person returned the watch to Achinelli's family that was completely destroyed because of his death.

The watch was passed from generation to generation and is now well kept by one of the descendants.

The Achinelli Genealogy site is now fully responsive and renovated for better viewing with some slight updates to the information there.
