Defenseman Tom Poti has signed a two-year, $5.75 million contract extension with the Washington Capitals. Poti will receive $3 million in the 2011-12 season, and $2.75 million in 2012-13. The $14 million, four-year deal he signed when he joined Washington as a free agent in 2007 was set to expire after the coming season.
