[Medieval] Living Night - Page 2

The Game Master says...

Each of you set yourselves up for the night. Wraith ends up north of the barn east of the pigs' pen. The rest stay in the same places they agreed on before.

[offtopic]I do not know what map you are referring to. It would be better to just explain your positions with the map I provided or place a link to the map you want me to look at.[/offtopic]

Most of the night passes uneventfully save for the great winds that blow through the area. You have the feeling that later in the night there will be strong showers or hail judging from the strenght of wind and cloud patterns shown by the one moon that has the area only slightly lit.

You look around at the pigs, lambs, chickens and other animals and realize that this is the first time you have stayed this long on a farm. The smell is not as hospitable as you thought, but you somehow get used to it. your mind then wonders on the gold you will get, how the party met and what you are doing right now. You wonder if you will ever settle down and start a family. You watch the insects buzzing around your position trying to swap at them with your weapon or palm. Mosquitoes are the most irritating and you hate how uncomfortable they make you feel. You are tired from your day, you had not planned to stay up so long and you slowly drift into a sleepy state, but the occassional bite of an insect awakens you.

The night passes... you are in a semi-conscious state. Everyone's strength level is average so no one could stay awake. Dreams of great adventure come upon the 'screen' of your mind. You are delighted by what seems to be a reality...

Everyone is quiet, what might have been small talk earlier is now only the sound of the wind. However this suddenly comes to an end as strong growls are heard followed by what seems to be a gallop right up on Mystic. A black bear with saliva dripping from its fang like teeth is upon Mystic. He only has time to gain composure enough to draw his weapon. Everyone else become startled by the rucus now taking place as Mystic yells out for help. The bear has first attack...

Molave looks down and has time for two straight shots, but there is an element of risk in shooting at two engaged in combat. Molave knows that if he were to miss badly, he could hit Myst. Molave thinks quickly and goes for it as was planned earlier, but it does not matter anymore...

The bear with one sweeping pass of its claws on Myst's neck that it cuts an opening so large that blood gushes and Myst falls lifeless to the ground. Myst is dead.

Molave heart begins to pump, he fires...

One arrow misses, but not by much, the other merely nicks the bear, but not enough to do anything serious. Molave hopes that the poison works fast.

Medusa, who is at the moment the nearest on the ground to Myst draws her weapon. Wraith is not far behind. Liete is on her way.

Medusa approaches the bear with great caution, the bear tries to bite and claw as it attacks first. Medusa can berely parry the awsome force of the bear and she becomes its' second victim. Medusa is dead.

Wraith is now scared still, but manages to get to swing his sword as Medusa goes down - he misses, even with two tries. The bear turns his head to bite but Wraith jumps back. The bear claws and this makes Wraith think to run towards the barn.

Liete arrives and wonders if her attack would be worthwhile. This while Molave fires two shots again... but both his arrows miss and he curses the life of a farm.

Liete watches as Wraith runs into the barn. What to do? You have the feeling that this bear is not 'normal'.

GM: Say what you will do now. It will be necessary to appoint a new leader since Msslm is not going to be regular at the moment. For the future leader, please look over the recent post about party order posting. Thanks.

Night Living Medieval

The Game Master says...

Liete makes a dash for it to the barn and is successful. The bear stands over the body of Medusa and begins to some how make strange motions in a spastic way as though it were not in control of its own limbs.

Molave seeing sudden death decides to climb down from the loft and try to grab up Medusa's bow and quiver which is right in front of the bear, but even with his under average soul he knows that is unwise and deides to regroup at the entrance of the barn.

Molave has a thought... 'while this is occuring Myst circles around the bear and aproaches it from behind with his spear, while using the bulk of the bear as a shield from the arrows' then he suddenly realizes Myst is laying on the ground in his own gore.

At this point Molave decides to let loose two more arrows and Wraith throws his primative spear whenever possible. The bear unaware of your attack is engrossed in something other than you, or so it appears, but you cannot tell, it is too dark.

Molave fires... the first arrow misses the bear, you account the wind and the random movements of the bear for that, but the second gets the bear right in his side. This of course brings the bear into some sort of 'awareness' of you and he focuses his eyes on Molave. Wraith's eyes open having now sensed death and he throws his spear with might... but he misses miserably. The bear now approaches with haste. Liete braces, Wraith pulls out his sword and Molave has chance for another two arrows before he pulls his dagger...

Upon you now the bear's claws look furious, as though they have a mind of their own. Molave drops behind giving himself time to switch weapons, Liete is ready... she gets first swing as the bear seems to move slower... her first swing makes good contact, but it almost seems as though the bear does not even notice which you find strange. The second swing which is a follow through of the first misses badly.

Wraith is now ready or at least he hope he is... his first slash inflicts a wound similar to that of Liete's, but likewise he misses his second attempt. The bear is furious now, but at the same time seems to be dripping more saliva and blood from his mouth...

With a quick swing of it's claws the bear hits Liete to the ground causing her to bleed, but she is not far from over and quickly gets back up, however the bear lunges on Wraith and with his weight crushes him while biting his neck. Wraith is dead.

An opportunity arises... time for a back stab. Molave attacks the bear from behind and does maximum damage with his dagger, but 'is it enough to bring down a bear of this size' he thinks as the blood of the bear gushes onto his hand... the bear immediately raises on its hind legs throwing Molave backwards. Molave sees death as the bear starts to run chaotically towards the darkness northward. Liete may just have a chance to lunge for an attack if she dares... shall you pursue?

GM: Say what you will do now?

[Medieval] Living Night RPG PBP Medieval World

The Game Master says...

Liete seeing an opportunity present itself, glances quickly to Molave and says, "At this point, if I can cause enough damage to it, things will be ok, but if not, at least I know I went out a in blaze of glory fighting, instead of cowering in a bush somewhere."

Liete uses her sword and begins to slash viciously at the bear in hopes of either knocking it to the ground or evenutally causing enough damage to it for it to run off. Molave Gets himsef up from the ground and picks up his bow and Mysts Sword, her then watches to see how Liete fairs...

Liete hits the bear...

The bear drops to the ground with a thud like a big tree. He was quite big. The animal's saliva seems to drip from his mouth rather profusely. You all gather around to inspect the bear. You notice a strange red bite on its' nose. You are not expert in the blood of animals, but it looks to you like it was either in a fight earlier or something bit it. You guess that by its aggressive attack that the animal was somehow scared, furious or crazed. You really do not know what to make of it. You are all more than awake. You are surprised that the Smiths have not awoken, you guess that the strong winds make it impossible to hear your engagement.

GM: Say what you will do now.

The Game Master says...

Beaten and weary Molave and Liete decide that the best course of action will be to get this mess cleaned up and the bear disposed of before resting.

Using the two handed sword dropped by Myst, Leite decapitates the bear then gathers the material to burn the body of the beast, while Molave hustles about pulling the bodies of their comrades together and removing everything from their persons except the clothing they are wearing. Molave then puts all of the 'salvaged' items together. Once the fallen Comrades are taken care of and the salvage is collected, Molave starts looking for unbroken arrows that can be returned to use, and is able to find all in good condition.

Leite puts the bear's head onto a makeshift stake and spikes it into the ground for safekeeping until it can be shown to farmer Smith as proof of the creatures demise.

It is now around 4:00am. Molave then decides to see if the Smith's have awaken, but on his way there he realizes that Mr. Smith was already up and coming his way. It seems the rest of the family is also getting ready for the day's work. Molave explains to him the occurences of the previous night and suggest that Mrs Smith be kept away from the area until the bodies have been removed. Mr. Smith says,

"Ah don't be worried about that old hag, she is tougher than two oxen carrying grain over a hill."

He then winks and is anxious to see the remains of the bear. After inspecting it... Molave also asks the farmer if they have a horse and wagon we can use to remove the remains of our fallen comrades to the undertakers, for proper burial to which he replies...

"Of course... and ye be welome to use anywhere on my land near the forest if you like. (after a pause) I am so sorry for your fallen friends, I did not think it was a bear, I don't remember ever seeing bear tracks before. Do you think we will have peace now?"

GM: Decide what you will do now. For the other players items look at their player descriptions and you can see their equipment before I erase it (but please do that as quickly as posible).

Night Living Medieval

The Game Master says...

Molave and Leite, decide after discussion that they should probably remain on at the Farm for a few days and try to make sure that things stay quiet. They explain to Farmer Smith that while this is most likely the creature that was harassing the people, that, if he would like, we will keep on for a few days to make sure everything stays quiet. They also thank the Farmer profusely for the use of the horse and buggy and for the land to plant their comrades to which Mister Smith is happy to oblige under the circumstances.

In the morning... the Pair then digs graves for their fallen comrades and bury them in their clothes on the edge of the property, marking the graves with boards carved with their names. You are both very tired in the extreme.

Leite and Molave go to the Village. Molave attempts to sell some items and gets 13 gold coins for his pouch.

Then the duo decides that their group is too small for comfort and visit the square to see if any adventuresome people want to join their little party, but they know sleep will be essential if they are to be 'worthy' of the night.

GM: Remaining characters gained experience - these will show as I change it in the profiles. All new characters can now post in the camp as they are created. There will be an intermission for a few days to give all the chance to join the current game. Game restarts Monday 13th October, 2003. This does not stop you from having discussions in the camp, going over strategies, ideas, etc.

[Medieval] Living Night - Page 2

The Game Master says...

Jonas decides that it is a good thing to be well protected and buys some leather armor, short bow and arrows. He wishes to buy a bow, but does not have enough gold. In the mean time... Omega dreams about having a trained attack dog... Omega try's to train his stray dog to obey him.  He wants the dog to be able to help out in battle so he trains him to be an attack dog.  Omega needs the dog to be able to save his life in tight situations or to distract and enemy long enough for him to cast a spell. This will take a period of many weeks and for now the most the dog can do is follow Omega.

You make your way back to the barn while discussing possible plans for the night. You use the barn as a sleeping area as you guess that you are safe during the day. The farmer sees new faces while bring your meal and asks about it...

GM: Correction. Error on my part, Omega does have a stray dog, and is in the process of training him. Jonas was able to get all his items. i think I did this when I was too tired, my apologies. Say what you will do now and where each character will be for the night.

[Medieval] Living Night World Medieval PBP RPG - Page 2

The Game Master says...

The farmer looks curiously at Liete and her 'new' friends and then wonders why it takes so long for them to introduce themselves to him. He then says to Liete...

"I guess you be wanting your gold for the kill of last night? Or do you fancy waiting to see what more is instore for you folks?"

At that same time a woman approaches and introduces herself as Enelya. She is a buff looking warrior. She followed the group from the market to see if it would lead to a prospect of battle and / or wealth. Being as everyone is now on the farm Enelya wonders what fortune could be here? She asks permission to be part of the group. The farmer says,

"I guess you are welcome, but its all up to these.." He points to the rest of the group.

GM: Time is getting on, the farmer is wondering about your new group. Make some decisions before night sets in, Liete is extremely tired and will not function well for the night without immediate sleep.
