Sport Paintballing

My son loves paintball! Is it a sport? Maybe. It's certainly a *game* and some *games* (like, for instance, baseball) are considered sports. It's very physical, it's very fun, it can be played one-on-one or with teams, and strategy is a big part of it.

One of the fun things is, my son comes home from a game with all these quarter-sized bruises on his arms and torso. laugh.gif I think that's really funny.

I think that paintball, just like some other activities such as archery, can be turned into a sport with different strategies and skills involved. To be a sport, I think a game has to be an activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and is undertaken competitively. My brother in law has the best equipment available and has honed his 'art' of strategy over many years. He never gets beat when he goes out to play. Whether that is a matter of skill or practice, I'm not sure, but I'm also not sure that matters. All sports have to be practiced to become better at it. I think that would be cool to see it as a recognized sport. As for me personally, I love to play paintball, but so far I don't consider it a sport for me.

I look at paint ball as a activity or game. There are leagues for darts, backgammon, bridge and many other activities or games. Paintball is basically automated dodgeball. However, it is high velocity with even smaller room for error! Can you work up a sweat playing it...definitely. Is it tactical...definitely. Is it a sport...mmmmm...I dont quite think so.

Just my thought,

Vince

Paintballing A Sport?

In my opinion, Paintball is a sport. There are many leagues and tournaments, over 6 million players world wide, sponsors, being considered for Xgames and the olympics, and takes strategy, skill, and coordination, and physical extertion. All of those make it in my opinion, a sport. People do this for a living, making thousands of dollars, getting sponsored by big name brand companies.

Paintball is mostly a fun activity, I would not consider it a sport. There is very little skill involved, and mostly luck.

That is not true at all... I would love to see someone who has never even seen a paintball gun try to battle with someone like me or my friends. It takes little luck and lots of skill not the other way around. It is very hard out there when thirty people are shooting at you non-stop. starblue.gif' />

I think that Paintball isn't a sport, but more of a hobby...

Like everyone else
... but it could be considered a sport, plus it's a fun, active, stategic game.
The best part about paintball is getting back at your friends, and getting some stress off your mind.
