    According to conspiracy theorist and to sum it up basically - war. One US President claimed that it was a funding machine for war and that it was controlled by an International group seeking to ensure a dominance over the world using the US / UK as a backbone. Cause and fund wars and you get more money. If there is peace then there is no big money to go around for the individuals who will like to have billions more in their pocket.
