Hey, Pheidon. Am I seeing things, or did you just upload your new avatar? Your picture looks great! I really like being able to see who is 'speaking.' I also want you to know that I appreciate your posts and your perspective on things, even if I may not agree with all of them. So, where do you live in Germany? I spent 4 years near Kaiserslautern, and really loved it.

I am currently living in a small city, which is about 1 hour away from Stuttgart, so Kaiserslautern is about 3 hours away from here.

I was also wondering if Pheidon meant something in German, or is it just a random name?

Nice pic, Pheidon, glad to see who we've been talking too all this time Are you a football fan by chance? Are you excited about the World Cup coming back to Germany in 2006? My wife and I were planning one time to go to Germany around the World Cup, but now we are not so sure if we'll be able to make it. She is of German decent, and would like to trace her roots and meet some relatives maybe.

It's just a more or less random name that I picked up in history class (https://53.1911encyclopedia.org/P/PH/PHEIDON.htm)

Honestly, I have to admit that when it comes to soccer, I am a bad german. As you might know, soccer is the german pasttime, but I personally never enjoyed it. My favorite sport would have to be basketball, though I have never really been that good at it. It's a fun sport.
That's cool, your wife wanting to meet her distant relatives, though, be prepared, most germans are not really that fluent in the english language.
