Nice to see intentions to get the troops out of Afgan. I hope some of the stiffening of criminal charges to be stiffened up with automatic jail times for armed offenses. *places on table caning on way in and out as a gentle reminder to all that crime is not permissable*.

Is this good news for you Krakyn, the tax relief that is and not Harper's government being downplayed?
QUOTE (CBC) |
Finance Minister Jim Flaherty has tabled a bill in the House of Commons to introduce broad-based income tax cuts as well as to cut the GST by another percentage point, making the rate five per cent effective Jan. 1,2008. Some of the income tax decreases will be retroactive to Jan. 1, 2007. A vote on the motion enabling the Conservatives to make the change will come at 3:15 p.m. ET Wednesday, and could have the potential to bring down Prime Minister Stephen Harper's minority government. |

I am just waiting for the second edge of that blade pass by. But from what I gather we are looking at a 1% drop in the federal sales tax and a drop in the personal tax and commercial tax. I can not recall the exact amount but it is a small token, but one that is in the right direction.
The big concern I have is our prices have not dropped in the retail side but our dollar has increased substantially in the last few years. I need take a look and see how it compares to the rest of the world market ie China Japan and Korea where much of the goods are actually made. After all we are only comparing to the USA dollar on the news most times.

Maybe he was at a lost for words, just like Bush is most of the time, and thought that he could wing it with someone South of the Border. I think they have programs that can search the net for similarities in writings, probably did not have that back in 2003.
