Game Master says...

Most of the level up rules are covered in the Classes chapter under Character Advancement. At level 2 there are no feats or ability score increases from the table there.

Next, we have to look at the Fighter class, which grants a d10 hit die and 2 + intelligence modifier skill ranks. Now, in my game you do not roll for heath, you take half the die, so 5, then add your constitution modifier (+1) as you do every level.

For skill, you get 2 ranks to put into any skill, including ones you already took up to a maximum number of ranks equal to your level (2 ranks maximum). Remember that when you add your first rank to a class skill you get a +3 misc bonus. Also, for being human you get 1 skill rank per level.

Then gain your favored class bonus, 1 hit point or 1 skill rank.

On the fighter table at level 2, your BAB and Fortitude save increase. Also you get a bonus combat feat and bravery +1.

So pick a feat from the Combat category that you feel will make your character unique or give him an ability. Shield Focus, which you took at level 1, is a prerequisite for Missile Shield, or there are the other choices I presented on page 16 of the character thread. And there is also the Improved Shield Bash.

I just realized a mistake I made! I put Shield Proficiency in your feats, which you already have from fighter 1. It should have been Shield Focus which increased your AC by 1!

Out of Character: Thank you for the explanation so:

Hit points: 6+12 = 18
Perception: 2
Shield Focus: 2
Bravery: 1

FORTITUDE SAVE
+4
REFLEX SAVE
+2
WILL SAVE
+2

Is the above correct? Bravery is a skill / feat?

Game Master says...

I know it's hard, but I'm afraid it's not correct.

Feats and skills are completely separate things. Skills are... Well... Skills that are used often in the game and they tend to be generic.

Feats allow characters to use unique abilities or grant unique bonuses. It's short for Features, but it can also means literal feats. Find a source that tells you what Shield Focus actually does, it should say it grants a +1 to your shield bonus. Unless written in the feat, you can only take a feat once.

Once you find a source (Such as the Paizo PRD or d20pfsrd) try to glance through other feats, particularly the ones suggested above and on page 15. Don't get them mixed up with Traits, which you only gain at level one (Unless you take the Additional Traits feat undecided.gif ).

Also in the Fighter class read the description for what Bravery actually does. It should be a +1 to certain saves.

I don't see where the increases to Reflex and Will are coming from... BAB stands for Base Attack Bonus, which is what you add to the d20 attack roll to hit, as well as your strength (Melee) or dexterity (Ranged).

You might as well post up the whole character sheet, but not all the skills, cut out the ones that have no ranks or misc bonuses. The ones you will cut have a bonus equal to your ability modifier, so for Swim, it's your Strength modifier of +3.

Oh no! This part always messes me up because I'm used to the computers figuring it out for me and in the end I get a message like "You're level 2" With whatever that contains. I don't want to hold the game up while I research all this again so I will just post continue the way Zork is now.

So far, only HP was increased. You need to increase skills, base attack bonus, saves, and a feat choice. And record Bravery +1 somewhere (It's a so called 'class feature'), maybe under your saves as a situational modifier.

And sorry about the mistake on your original sheet, change Shield Proficiency to Shield Focus, which grants +1 AC.

I wonder if I use that new Pathfinder builder option JB has in the character sheet it might make the calculations easier for me? I think you can put the level and it does the stuff and tells you what to add.

I am not aware of it. It is similar enough to the Dungeons & Dragons generator, except for Skills and Bravery. More Feats are also available. Being experienced, I don't see what's so hard. I'm not in your shoes. Can you access the rules? Do you want to go through the sheet section by section with explanations?
