Thankful for making to to shore and taking shelter. Upon hearing a scream; I watch in horror as Travis's horse and another horse as well as elf teen go down into the deeps of the lake. Taken by some type of creature.
Once the fire is made I go and warm myself by it and then hear Rachel discribe the creatures. My heart is still saddened by the loss of yet another elf teen to this cruel world.
To Travis, I offer my sadness for his loss. I am quite for most the rest of the time until we once again move out from this place and continue our patrol.
Right before we head back out, I go over to Rachel and speak with her quietly.
The area around the lake is not quite a gorge but there are places where there are cliffs over looking this lake. There are alos places where one can walk along the shore of the lake. It is 300 feet wide and about half a mile long. The shore quickly slopes away into a deep looking lake as you have found out there are deadly creatures inhabiting this lake. Where cliffs are present the shore is even more steep or straight down. There is more shoreline than cliffs around this lake. The vegetation is the same as the forests you have been traveling in.
I sit a little numbly after the job of saving those who could be saved was done. A young life was lost here, not to some battle or great purpose, just a sliding fall and a hungry beast. And it could have just as easily been Thalica…
Enough of that, focus on the present.
"Travis, just ride one of the pack horses for now."
"Can anyone think of a way to retrieve his remains? Without risking the lives of others."
"Thank you Jason, for offering me the pack horse, I hope she can serve me well," he says.
"Does, the other teen wish to have a memorial, or time to mourn the loss,"? He adds.
I'm staring sadly into the water thinking of yet another tragic death. Upon hearing Jonathan, I whirl around." Great idea Jonathan.... .An octopus could drag them out." I then shake my head." That won't work. I can't communicate with them. All they can do is attack where I direct." I pace back and forth for a moment." I have it! There is a good chance that there are no longer any remains to find. We owe it to them though to make sure."
I walk down close to the water. Calling upon nature a strange, opaque ripple is visible in the water." Find the dead elf. Creatures took it below." I point out where the teen disappeared. The water elemental swims rapidly to where I indicated. It then begins a rapid search. I look to the others." If anything can find them, a water elemental can."
Out of Character: : I will roll a spot check to find the corpse. Once found the elemental will drag them to shore. If not strong enough it will form a vortex containing the corpse and eject it onto the shore. Swim speed is 90. If I need to roll something else just let me know KN. I assume the large creatures won't see the elemental as food and will leave it alone.
