Zork orders the war wagon handler to use the draft horses to pull the tree out of the way and then hook them back up again.
While he is doing that he knows the war wagon is vulnerable so he sets up a rough perimeter with himself 100' north of the wagon, and the ranger to the south the same distance.
Once all is complete we move forward to the north looking for signs of activity as before.
Albrecht stands next to Champ at the other side of the wagon from Zork, helping to guard the wagon during its vulnerable state. When the tree is moved, he mounts Champ and moves forward, resuming his post. He keeps a sharp eye out for any signs of bandits, but isn't hopeful after such a heavy downpour.
Krusten covers one flank by stooping low, sticking her shield in the ground and using it as cover while she notches an arrow. She looks around for any strays while occasionally looking towards her bird..
Krusten suggests a camp on an incline again in case of a repeat storm. When that is done she will check the surrounding woods with the ranger for food, make a very small fire just enough to cook the meat and rest til the morning. She will take the watch before daybreak.
Avan had been standing casually beside the wagon, bow in hand and a few rations in the other, watching the tree being pulled. As soon as we start moving again, he resumes his usual position inside with his book.
In response to the new information from the ranger, Avan says, "Perhaps we can use this impure water to our advantage. I wonder how it's being contaminated and whether the bandits use this, or perhaps they are dumping their waste here. Maybe we can ambush them on one of its banks? Thoughts?" He asks the others including the ranger.
Albrecht responds to Avan's thought about the river, "I doubt they are near here. It is probably just a big enough river to pick up all the contaminants from its tributaries. I never trust bigger streams for my drinking water, small streams are usually better." As the party crosses the river, Albrecht dismounts and walks downstream of Champ, next to the wagon, so neither of them fall and get pulled down the river. On the other side, he rings out his pants as best he can and then remounts to continue on in the same marching order. In response to Krusten, Albrecht agrees with making camp near the top of another hill, if such high ground can be found.
Out of CharacterEven a small river can be 'dangerous' when you are a halfling. Albrecht is an over-cautious type with some things.
