
At least four people have been killed after powerful tornadoes swept through Indiana, state and local officials said.
National Weather Service meteorologist John Gordon earlier said the agency had about "half a dozen reports of tornadoes on the ground" in multiple states, as well as reports of "significant damage."
Two reported twisters touched down in northeast Alabama, where residents were assessing damage to a high school and a prison.
In Tennessee, severe weather was responsible for critically injuring as many as eight people in the cities of Harrison and Oolteweh, officials said. Ref. CNN
The tornado that swept through southern Indiana on Friday was an EF-4 -- meaning it had sustained winds between 166 and 200 mph, putting it in the top 2% of all tornadoes in terms of strength, the National Weather Service said Saturday.
The tornado was a part of a string of vicious storms that contributed to at least 37 deaths in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Alabama and Georgia.

I can't believe the amount of destruction that those tornadoes caused. It must have been really terrifying to see that big swirling mass of wind and things coming your way.

Tornadoes were spotted in the Dallas-Forth Worth, area, prompting the National Weather Service to issue tornado emergencies. Video from CNN affiliate WFAA shows truck trailers being lifted and tossed like toys. Aerial footage also shows damage to homes; a Tarrant County official confirmed damage in the city of Arlington.

Its been so crazy with these tornadoes because they all came at the same time like a freak of nature. Some people have died and major buildings have been hit.

Two tornadoes strike NYC within minutes of each other
Two tornadoes struck New York City on Saturday. One swept out of the sea and hit a beachfront neighborhood, and the second, stronger twister hit moments later, hurling debris in the air, knocking out power and startling residents who once thought of twisters as a Midwestern phenomenon.
