They need all those women just to replace Paula? Maybe they should keep Paula then and pay her what she wants.
Well, there is a new judge in American Idol and she is very excited about her new job. Ellen DeGeneres has signed as a fourth judge for its next season. I see the producers are trying to get into the humor side of things, probably Ellen "roasting" Simon, etc. It could be fun.

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) - "American Idol" has signed talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres as a fourth judge for its next season, the show's producers said. The 51-year-old comedienne will fill the chair left empty by Paula Abdul's recent departure when the singing competition resumes for a ninth year in January, creator and executive producer Simon Fuller said. Adbul left the show after eight years as a judge when she was unable to agree on a new contract. DeGeneres said she's been a "huge fan" of "American Idol" for many years. "So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I"ll save from not having to text in my vote," she said. DeGeneres, who will continue to host her syndicated daily talk show, will "bring a unique human touch to our judging panel," Fuller said... |
It could be fun and it could be a disaster. Ellen Degeneres doesn't have the same music savvy that Paula Abdul has, and I don't think Ellen is all that funny, quite frankly. She is a brilliant businesswoman, from what I've read, and she has a successful talk show, but does that translate into a successful judge of aspiring singers? I guess we'll find out. She'd be better at replacing Ryan Sechrest than Paula Abdul, in my opinion.
I saw American Idol Season 9 Episode 1 and I had a good laugh. Not sure if I'm liking Becham there but she has already shown that she does not agree with Cowell so that's good. I thought Ellen was supposed to be a judge there?
