G'day everyone. It's Arvhic calling in from London, my new home.
I think JB summed it up pretty well when he said we need not fuss about Blair anymore.
But a more interesting question is how will he be viewed in history.
I can tell you the general consensus in Britain is that he is not very popular and people don't really trust him.
This is because he is seen as Bush's lap dog. His stand on the Lebanon disaster, defiantly not calling for a ceasefire when it was the obvious way to go, really highlights that.
Unfortunately for Blair, whatever good he may have achieved over his political life, it has been overshadowed by disastrous foreign policy.
Many Britons believe this has only made the UK a more dangerous place as it is now a legitimate terrorist target.
Blair's popularity is so bad at the moment his own party has virtually staged a mutiny to ensure he leaves, because they fear he will cost Labour future elections. Edited: arvhic on 14th Sep, 2006 - 1:06pm

Can you imagine Tony Blair as head of the World Bank? What is your opinion about it?

Tony Blair may be asked to head the World Bank after its current president quit over an ethics flap, according to London's Daily Mail. One of America's top economists today revealed that the retiring prime minister is being considered as a replacement for disgraced Paul Wolfowitz, the Daily Mail reported. Click here to read Daily Mail story. "He is one of the people that is clearly being discussed," Nobel Prize-winner Joe Stiglitz, a former senior vice president at the World Bank, told the Daily Mail. Blair is expected to cash in on his international contacts after quitting Downing Street on June 27. In addition, Blair's agent said he would quit Parliament if "a big international job" came up. Stiglitz said the World Bank would probably prefer an economist with experience in development, which some pundits argue effectively rules out the prime minister, who has often admitted to being shaky at math... |
