Character Description
Nikolaos Willahelm is a tall and slender half-elf who prefers to wear brightly colored clothes of rose and gold. He keeps his hair cut short and his face clean shaven, although both are naturally sandy blond; so that wigs, fake mustaches, and beards are comfortable to wear.
When in town he makes sure to seek out any temples of Lathander to seek news and offer services. He likes to spend the rest of his time performing in taverns or other available venues to earn money. During performances Nikolaos likes to use his Song of Rest class feature, and Inspiring Leader feat to sneak in short sermons while giving audience members healing and temporary hit points.
Every morning Nikolaos uses his Inspiring Leader feat to give himself and companions temporary HPs. He keeps up written correspondence with people who are important to him; his mother Martha, his mentor Alcaeus, and his spiritual adviser Heliodoro.
Character History
Nikolaos Willahelm was born in the city of Baldur's Gate. His mother Martha Willahelm was a young barmaid at the Blinded Basilisk, and his father was an unknown traveling elf. Martha was disowned by her family for her bastard child. Nikolaos grew up helping around the tavern by doing various chores and entertaining guests. One such guest, a traveling minstrel by the name of Alcaeus saw Nikolaos's potential and agreed to take him on as an apprentice. Nikolaos spent the next several years traveling around learning his craft, all the while sending money back home to support his mother.
Nikolaos decided he could make more money by heading out on his own, and for the next few years gained some fame and fortune on various adventures. One fateful evening however, Nikolaos walked down the wrong alley and was attacked by bandits; one of which bore an amulet with flaming eyes above a dragon's claw. He was beaten, robbed, and stabbed within an inch of his life. Fortunately a passing cleric of Lathander, Heliodoro, intervened and routed the assailants.
Heliodoro then took Nikolaos back to his temple to shelter him and tend to his wounds. After a long night of discussion with the priest, Nikolaos learned that there are people in the world to help other than his mother and himself. Nikolaos dedicated the next few years learning about Lathander and the blessings he bestows on his followers.
Since then Nikolaos has resumed his adventuring lifestyle but with a renewed purpose of helping others and spreading the word of Lathander.
